Perhaps a minor credibility problem

Richard Dawkins has a new book coming out, titled The Greatest Show on Earth, in which he tries to win over fence-sitters with a case for evolution.

But, is it just me, or did his last book The God Delusion (as in, if you believe in God you’re delusional) maybe alienate some of his potential audience? Or is there a big market segment of creationist atheists that I don’t know about?

  1. I haven’t given it much thought yet, but I think its worth exploring distinctions between evolution & Darwinism. A few persuasive writings I’ve seen agree in/with evolution, but find Darwinism tautological (using survival as simultaneous definition & proof of “fitness”) or lazy/biased (especially when pre-fixed with Social- or Economic-) . Not necessarily what you’re talking about here, but something I’ve only recently considered.

I don’t suppose you caught Dawkins’ recent appearance on the Colbert report? I thought it was an excellent segment.
